Map requirements

Our community adds two types of maps – existing ones and ones created especially for us. The minimum requirements are as follows:

  • the approximate time to complete the map without fails should be no less than 1:15, maps shorter than 1:30 have very little chance to be added
  • the player should receive a weapon (at least a knife) at the start
  • there should be no dead ends on the map (that is, places from which it is impossible to get out in the run without saving)
  • the player should be able to get from the finish to the start by means of the map (simply moving along it in the opposite direction or using teleports)
  • the difficulty of jumps should balanced.
The requirements for maps uploaded to us are stricter. Here's what we pay attention to:

  • textures used and their combination
  • lighting and its sources
  • general theme of the map
  • missing textures (also when flying through the hook)
  • correct texture scaling and adjstment
  • it shouldn't be possible to go beyond the map on the hook
  • variety of techniques used
  • linearity – how often the direction of movement and altitude change during the passage
  • loops in the route, that is, if the player moves from one room to another, will he return to one of the already visited rooms during the run; often the start and finish rooms coincide, but the entire map can consist of small intersections (kz_explorer for example)
  • originality of jumps
  • if the map was not created specifically for single-player play, then the convenience for simultaneous play of several people is assessed.
Extreme maps (of very high complexity) should be mentioned separately. Do not just put some blocks placed far from each other, the jumps should be varied regardless of whether it is a bhop or climb map.
