Routes

Article about routes took more than a week to create, but now you can easily find out which shortcuts are imperative, which places should be visited and where to find hidden teleports, leading to alternative routes. Almost every map has explicative screenshots and video (the whole playlist is here on our channel).

All routes for XJ maps are adjusted with Xtreme-Jumps administration (thanks to Nannou), at that during the discussion it was decided to add a few new routes: kzro_raincliff[-md], cg_d2block_ez[-boost], kz_42_amazon[-boost], kz_northpole_b01[-boost]. Besides, we have finally solved a controversial point on kzse_bhopblock - some time ago cause of inaccurate description of the route we've accepted a demo from Kalashnikov, while XJ later denied it. Now the issue is settled and Kalashnikov is free to upload his demo on XJ again, since shortcut with usp drop is approved. A copy of the article will be posted on Xteme-Jumps as well.

LAN server update

Versions 4.3 and 4.4 underwent the following changes:

  • some negligent mappers use trigger_once instead of trigger_multiple on their maps and that leads to the problems with demo recording. For example, trigger_once on kz_man_madness wrecks the ceiling of the castle so you can enter it. This trigger works once per map and disappears right after touching it, so it won't appear unless you do a full map restart (restart in console). The ceiling is restored after fast round restart but there is no way to break it again. Well, now our LAN is able to completely reconstruct all trigger_once during the fast round restart! By the way, special thanks to newbie for the help with correct creating of a trigger.
  • now freezing and unfreezing of bhop blocks with help of console command kz_mpbhopmenu is available only if mpbhop is enabled (to avoid any misunderstanding).
  • by default it is set mp_timelimit 0 (check \addons\amxmodx\configs\amxx.cfg), so a map is played until you change it. If you use for example mp_timelimit 30, a voting will appear about 30 minutes after the server launch (it will be very similary to our server voting). Maps for this voting are received from the file \addons\amxmodx\data\maps.txt which formely was created the first time you launch your server, and then you had to update it through VIP menu. Now if you play a map that is absent in maps.txt, file will be updated automatically. Item was removed from the VIP menu, life became easier.
  • previous time we've written about new plugin which is able to highlight various entities on a map. However some new compilers (for instance, version by vluzacn) are so much optimized that they don't include some information, which could be helpful for us. In particular, they don't save in bsp vertices and polygons specifying the geometry of triggers. That's why it was impossible to highligth them. However lxr suggested to calculate the form of triggers using planes (which are still stored in bsp). He has written map parser on php and found points of intersection for planes, but some of them were excess. The problem of points selection is that normals of planes could be either outer or inner. Even if a trigger has a form of a convex polyhedron, one cannot find its form without this information. After all there are non-convex triggers combined from a few brushes... Then I decided to dig in bsp-trees (each trigger has its own tree). Turned out that trees can give all necessary info! This is a very interesting theme, so maybe someday I'll write an article about it, but now let's back to our LAN. Menu, that could be called with /ent command, new has one more item: Trigger Frame. It opens one more menu which gives you a capability to draw a frame of any trigger. You just need to touch the trigger you want to draw. For example, if you fall in one of the teleports on fu_evening, you will be able to see this:


    First item sets drawing style: frame of red lines, frame plus auxiliary blue lines, or just box the whole trigger is suited in. The second item specifies a trigger's type, on fu_evening I've had to delibirately choose trigger_teleport, otherwise I were touching trigger_hurt all the time, since the whole map is drowned into it. Also you can fixate last touched trigger by using the third item of the menu. Fifth item is reset, and if you want to turn off the drawing, just choose Off in the first item. Remember that there should be no highlighted objects during the demo recording.

Cheaters

Lately we had a discussion about undisguised cheating on servers, so we decided to warn three players with the hightest numbers of bans:

  1. instinct
  2. hZZ
  3. f1Lthz4
If any of these players is banned one more time he will loose all his records and get a permanent ban.
