Online Cup #3 + Adding Maps

KZ-Rush Cup #3


Registration opens for the third Online Cup. To register, just write in the comments to this newspost "+". Try to avoid other formulations, just a plus sign. Also make sure you've added in Steam Russian Federation lxr and Russian Federation Kpoluk.

Cup will be held in the format of single elimination next Saturday, March 2, at 19:00 by Moscow time (GMT+3). As before, all participants will get temporary VIP, winners will be granted with money (7$, 4$ and 3$ respectively, through PayPal)

If the number of players exceeds 16, then we will hold a cup with 16 participants on Saturday, and on Sunday (3rd of March) there will be another one with players who haven't played and those who lost on the first stage on Saturday. At that winners of Sunday event will get money prizes as well.

We're going to use new algorithm for picking pairs, which should exclude pro+pro or pro+newbie situations.

Adding maps


All deathrun maps and hb_DotAntipro are added to the site only. Actually I expected to see some triggers on deathrun maps, that would activate traps, but it turns out that half of each map is just running. As for the map consisting of lj blocks, I decided to accept kzex_jumprun2, but other similar maps will not be added, since they almost the same in terms of jumps.

Rejected maps

kzro_s1_longjumps - the most part of the map is just a bunch of lj blocks, which is kind of poor structure for this length
kzro_s1_longjumps2 - lj blocks and running for 2 minutes
kzro_puntslide - first slide is way harder than the rest of the map. So I should add one minute map to the Hard server just because of this jump? Hell no, it's better mapper will care about balance and length next time.
drh_bhop_dust2 - short, fps issues cause of flickering light; clip brushes blocking sc
kzlu_mjm_slide_N - bad texturing; difficulty imbalance; ladders and breakables not decorated
deathrun_bhopz_remake - impossible to finish
deathrun_crash_snow - bad brushes docking; critical architecture flaw: there's no way to leave respawn
deathrun_impasable - short; half of the map is just lj blocks; planning flaw: dead end that can be escaped only with help of bhop blocks
